Wings on Wheels Wish List
In addition to meeting a practical need of Wings caregivers, Wings on Wheelssm (W.O.W.) will provide the tools to foster communication and understanding between children facing life-limiting situations and those that surround them. When a child is facing a traumatic illness, he/she is in and out of hospitals, the home or the classroom. This leaves classmates, friends and siblings to cope with their own confusion and, often, fear.
Through visits by professional Expressive Therapists trained in grief support, the W.O.W. vehicle will bring information and activities to the community, facilitating communication between children and family in hospitals and those that surround them in schools, churches, at local events, etc. By partnering with the community in a collaborative project, all will develop an empathy and understanding of the patient's situation, while alleviating some of their own concerns.
The W.O.W. vehicle will be operated by caregivers trained to utilize it to the full potential as a tool in the daily care of patients.
All net funds raised for Wings on Wheels through program donations will benefit the Wings program by providing to the stock the vehicle with art supplies for community/patient projects and educational and support resources for adults in the community working with well children and those in the care of Wings.
Your contribution to the Wings on Wheels will ensure the viability and longevity of the critical services provided to our children long into the future. We understand there are many worthy causes in need of resources – so the decision to allocate your resources to our organization is a major one and one that we don't take lightly. Thank you for your consideration of a donation as part of your overall estate and financial plans to the BJC Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care Program, Wings.
