Illinois Youth Board

As the Wings program has served the pediatric hospice needs of Illinois children for more than a decade, we thought it was high-time the Friends of Wings made a strong fundraising statement there as well. Our reach of events and activity will be ever more present in Illinois with the launch of the Friends of Wings-Illinois Board and Youth Board.

In an effort to grow participation and opportunities for students, as well as to support fundraising events on both sides of the river, we have established a Youth Board in Illinois.

The Friends of Wings Illinois Youth Board is made up of high school students from throughout Illinois who raise funds for the Wings program and learn the importance of philanthropy through guest speakers and hands on training.  Community service hours are given for their work.

The Illinois Youth Board meets monthly throughout the school year to plan a fundraiser fully planned, marketed and executed by the students. In addition, speakers and community leaders representing the Wings program and other prominent and interesting organizations, regularly come to the meetings. The goal is to impress upon the students the importance of service and charitable involvement as a leader in our city.

All money raised in Illinois will stay in Illinois! With the introduction of an Illinois Friends of Wings Youth Board solely working to raise critical funds for the metro East community, we are confident that our program and sponsors will be “in the news” in the coming months.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2017-2018 school year. To receive more information about the Illinois Youth Boards or to request an Application Packet, please contact Alicia at 314.953.1662 or alicia@friendsofwings.org.
