History

In 1997, BJC Home Care services assured that a full continuum of care would be available for children by initiating our region's first licensed and Medicare/Medicaid certified pediatric hospice program.

As the region's only pediatric hospice, the BJC Wings Program provides compassionate end-of-life care for children diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

BJC Hospice's Wings program is a non profit organization that provides supportive/palliative care and hospice to children from newborn through 21 years who have progressive, life limiting illnesses or condition, regardless of their ability to pay.

The compassionate team of pediatric health care professionals provide palliative comfort care including the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and practical needs of the child and family.

Wings has served over 500 children since its inception. Most of the children live in the St. Louis Metropolitan area on both side of the river including Illinois and communities. BJC Pediatric Hospice cares for children diagnosed with terminal illnesses who have been given less than six months to live.
